Algeria November 2008
Despite some bad press Algeria was a welcoming as ever and continues to open up slowly. We had 2 excellent guides this year and got into some very remote areas. Driving the polished granite spine we christened the Elephants Trunk was a great experience and gives you an indication of the surprises this country offers. We saw lots of Dorcas gazelles and some mouflon in the Hoggar while the cool nights kept the scorpions away. We saw exceptional rock art in little visited areas, and found several Neolithic sites rich in grind stones and flint tools, including arrow heads.
Really looking forward to going back in 2010.
