Gallery / Transylvanian Explorer 2008

Romania September 2008

Lots of water made for some great fording opportunities but the highlights were the stunning views from the TransAlpina track, a south to north crossing of the Fagarras Mountains. The testing descent in snow and fog soon got our attention back onto the driving, with frozen rocks and 500m drops either side you don't make mistakes!

The restoration of Viscri is being undertaken with great skill and sensitivity, a fascinating insight into Saxon life 200 years ago. Driving in the marble mine was a bit of fun, in tunnels deep into this beautiful white mountain.
