4x4 Off Road Holiday, Overseas And UK Adventure Expeditions

About Us

About Us

Paul and Anne Blackburn set up OneLife Adventure in 2004 after many years of independent travel in Africa and Asia. They've combined their knowledge, experience and passion to plan the trips OneLife Adventure now offers, giving you the best destinations and 4x4 guided expeditions on offer today. Over the last ten years the company has gone from strength to strength, establishing itself as the leading vehicle dependant travel organisation operating from the UK. Paul is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and his views are often sought by journalists, independent travellers and charitable organisations running expeditions.

Over the years the list of destinations has grown. Paul and Ann invest time and energy in researching new routes- seeking out the places that combine excellent off road driving adventure and fantastic holiday potential. Where OneLife leads others eventually follow. It was the first major company to offer Iceland, Romania, Western Sahara, Algeria, Greece for 2014, and, new for 2015, a combined Greece/Turkey expedition around the Aegean Seace.

Ethical travel is important to us, and we do all we can to minimise our impact on the world we're exploring. We act responsibly and encourage environmental stewardship. Expeditions have minimum impact on the cultures and environments we experience. We aim to give something back and have supported or instigated small scale projects in North Africa aimed to improve health or environment - talk to us to see how you can help us make a real difference.

About Paul

Background: Agriculture. First off road vehicle was a tractor.

Best thing about OneLife: I love travel, and I'm always wondering what's around the next corner. Running OneLife gives me an excuse to keep on looking. Guests come from across Europe to join our expeditions, and we're delighted that many regularly come back time and time again to explore further with OneLife.

Loves: Collecting. Very proud of my Himba animal skin clothing and artefacts from Nambia.

Top tip for a successful trip: Focus on your packing system, having to unload or look through every box for a tea-bag is very annoying when you're thirsty. Now do that everyday for 14 days - someone is gonna die!

Don't forget to pack: A colander - ask me about it !

Do say: Is that a fishing rod on the back seat?

Don't say: So have you caught us something for the barbecue?

Favourite destination: anywhere in the Sahara.

Next on the list? The Silk Road and the 'stans.

About Anne

Background: Civil Engineering.

Best thing about OneLife: There's always something new to discover.

Loves: Throwing away some of the smellier of Paul's collections.

Top tip for a successful trip: Travel light, beg, borrow or buy what you forget.

Don't forget to pack: Wet wipes.

Do say: Will that collection of rusted iron and wood masquerading as a bridge will take the weight of a 3.5 t Land Cruiser?

Don't say: Are you sure?

Favourite destination: Iceland.

Next on the list? Northern Greece and Turkey.
