The historical and cultural heritage of Greece continues to resonate throughout the modern western world - in its literature, art, philosophy and politics. It gave us democracy, theatre, and could even be seen as the first European Union. But don’t hold that against it!;it’s a great country for off road expeditions, offering great value for money and stunning scenery. Coincidentally it also has an unrivalled network of tracks allowing us to explore this new destination off road !
Situated at the far south of the Balkan peninsula, Greece combines towering mountains with over 1,400 islands. I’m constantly surprised at the amazing range of flora and animals that Greece offers. From bears in mountains to schools of bright fish off sandy beaches, Greece is an unspoilt land. Its people are warm and friendly, its food diverse and its culture a blend of Europe, Middle East and Asia. This trip is to explore the coastline and mountains of the Peloponnesus peninsular in the far south.
Starting at Patra we’ll spend time off road in the Erymanthos mountains working our way south via Olympia before reaching the 3 rocky fingers fringed with sandy beaches that characterize this area. Days will end with wild camping on the warm, golden sands of the Aegean Sea eating freshly caught and cooked fish from the local taverna. We then head north along the remote eastern side before returning to Patra and our boat back to Italy. Greece’s gentle hot climate makes this the perfect destination for some serious relaxing as well as 4x4 adventures. You can either drive overland to meet us in Patra for a real adventure or ship across the Ionian Sea from Italy - this means its not even that far away – a perfect break for all the family.
Hi Paul, The adventure was everything we expected and more, with like minded people. We especially enjoyed being able to share Easter with the Greek people, who we found very hospitable and kind. Once again, thank you for everything.
